Become a Professional Visitor
The BPA invites qualified psychoanalytic or psychodynamic clinicians registered with either the BPC, BACP, UKCP or equivalent body to apply (other qualified professionals or those from other registering bodies can enquire).
Professional Visitors to the British Psychoanalytic Association pay £250 for one year, which includes:
- Attending all open or public BPA scientific meetings (not including paid ticketed events)
- Attending 5 Introductory Lectures of your choice.
- Attending the Summer Study Day.
- A series of monthly online seminars over the academic year

Modified Training 2 year minimum
For experienced psychoanalytic clinicians committed to in-depth intensive analytic work who would like to develop further to become a psychoanalyst, member of the BPA and a member of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA).
Training consists of:
- Clinical work under supervision/consultation
- Clinical and theoretical seminars covering major schools of psychoanalytic thought and traditions
Eligibility:
- BPC registered psychoanalytic psychotherapists working with adults, young adults and late adolescents
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
- Have experience of at least three patients in three times a week psychotherapy for at least three years. Have at least one patient who is or is close to starting a 4 times a week therapy by the start of the course.
